Tribute To Genesis School

According to Wikipedia a teacher is a person who helps others to acquire knowledge, competence or virtue.

Genesis provided me teachers that didn’t give me a choice. They offered knowledge, competence and virtue. Of course, during my year at Genesis school sometimes I didn’t know the value of what I was getting. Funny I’m saying this now, seeing as this was one of the most constantly repeated statements by my teachers. I thought this was how every other school did it. Until I got into the university.

During my first year in the university, I noticed among my peers that many of the things I considered “basic” really weren’t so basic after all. These “basic” weren’t just of my academic life but socially as well as morally. I remembered sometimes I had scenarios painted by my teachers and I’ll think of myself. “What are the odds of that happening in our time” and it was really amazing how those exact same scenarios are what played out. Thanks the Genesis, I started developing a certain level of security in my academic, my morality and my social life.

With each passing day, week, month, semester or year, I could not help but be grateful to God for making me go through Genesis. I want to express my utmost and sincere gratitude to Mrs. Bisi – Afolabi under whose priceless and indispensable leadership and guidance Genesis was founded and my education was provided. I also want to express my gratitude to all the staff of Genesis High School right from the Principal Mr. Samuel Okesanya to every single academic staff and its management. They have all greatly contributed positively to my success at the university and to me personally in their individual way. The teachings, the availability and the friendliness that the staff of Genesis provided me and my mates is something I cherish dearly and greatly miss till this day because it’s something that I couldn’t have gotten anywhere else and I wouldn’t get again.

To the graduating students, some of you may not be uncertain about what the future holds, some of you may even be scared of the entire idea of being independent to an extent and some may doubt those pieces of advice your teacher would have given you. I understand because I felt this way too, but let me assure you as an alumnus of this same institution, that everything will fall into places perfectly if you always have God with you. Remember the positive values that have been impacted on you while you were here. Never forget who you are and watch yourself grow and become greater than who you want to be.

God bless you all.
